Over 100 people working in the arts, creative and heritage sectors attended a launch event for CalderdaleCreates, the network for creative professionals in Calderdale.

Keynote speaker Martin Sutherland OBE, Chief Executive of Coventry City of Culture Trust, launched CalderdaleCreates by detailing the legacy and best practice from Coventry, the UK Capital of Culture in 2021. In a dynamic conversation with Laurie Sansom, Chair of CalderdaleCreates, Martin gave insight into how to build strong partnerships and work with local communities to deliver an effective cultural programme.

Attendees were also brought up to date about Calderdale council’s plans for the Year of Culture 2024 from Cultural Services Manager, Bobsie Robinson and new Year of Culture Programmes Manager Kayleigh Boyle. This was an opportunity for the creative sector to have their input on the how they could be involved in building a world class dynamic programme.

The conversations, Q&As and aspirations for Year of Culture 2024 and CalderdaleCreates were documented through a series of sketches from Artist and Graphic Facilitator Alex Abel.
